Counselling and Psychotherapy in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire
Why seek counselling?
There is a time in the lives for many of us when we realise that talking to a counsellor/psychotherapist will help us with our problems, regardless of whether these problems come from our environment or from within.
The decision to start therapy however is often difficult. It involves talking about a range of personal conditions which you may not have been able to express before. It requires some element of hope, trust and courage. It also suggests a desire to want to change or resolve a difficult life situation or your relationship with yourself and others.
It can be daunting contacting a counsellor; you are welcome to 'phone or email me any questions before deciding to arrange an initial consultation. My Counselling Room is in Bedford Town Centre.
I work in Bedford and offer a confidential setting in which to talk about whatever issues may be troubling you, whether that is anxiety, depression, difficulty in a relationship or a general sense of loss of meaning or fulfilment.
I will listen carefully to you and think about what you are saying; this can create a sense of space and quiet which may feel strange initially; different from having a conversation with a friend. However, being listened to by a thoughtful and curious therapist can bring relief, build trust and help talk about issues more openly and honestly.
My Background is working as a speech and Language therapist for many years in the NHS. Although I am interested in communication difficulties I see people from diverse backgrounds and with a range of issues that bring them to seek counselling. I am also an experienced psychotherapist, initially working in London and setting up my practice in Bedford in 2014. I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of supporting you to find your own answers and to lead a more satisfying and fulfilling life.
